Trine Email Account Deletion
Trine University currently supports nearly 19,000 @my.trine.edu email and myPortal accounts for alumni and departed students. Of these, 38% have not been used for more than one year. These accounts are vulnerable and open for brute force attacks. Therefore, the university will suspend student email and myPortal accounts for those who have graduated and are considered alumni, 1 year after their graduation date.
The next round of emails to be deleted will take place at the conclusion of the 2021-2022 academic year. This will include any alumni who graduated in the 2017-2018 and up to 2020-2021
Alumni who use their Trine accounts should copy their email to another account and attached other email addresses for social media and other uses several days before the account disable date.
What to do before your account is deleted
- All accounts associated with your Trine email need to be associated with a non-Trine email.
- Do not rely on email forwarding. Important notifications should be changed to another email.
- Forward or export any email messages currently in your account.
- If you have Outlook installed on your computer, click here for instructions on how to add your Trine email. After the email is added, please click here to get instructions on how to creast a PST so you have a local copy. If you don't currently have Outlook, but would like to install it with a free one-month trial to obtain a backup of your email, you can download it here.
